Present situation - July 2001

Living Values Education continues in a state of constant expansion. Representatives from this programme also intervene in other forums or congresses, or in debates, seeking an active participation in the heart of the educational community.

Following a custom established in 1996, at the beginning of the Programme, there are regular monthly meetings in the cities of Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for educators interested in the Programme. The object of these investigation groups is to improve techniques and develop new strategies and resources so as to ensure a more effective education in "values".

The Agreement signed with the Foundation Culture for Peace in Madrid in February 2001 opens new doors for the Programme as regards a wider projection on national level.

Some of the most outstanding of the recent activities are:

  • Monthly meetings of the Operative Unit of Education for Progress of the Andalusian Coordinating Committee of the NGOD, in their headquarters in Seville.

  • 25 January 2001: Start of the training course for teachers, entitled "Education in Values; Proposed Techniques for Application in the Class-room". It took place in CEFIRE, J?iva (Valencia), and was composed of 7 sessions, which ended on 12 March. Some 35 teachers attended.
