Current Status - July 2001
This has been a successful year for Living Values in Portugal. Our objective has finally been achieved: the Programme has been taken to as many teachers and educators as possible, permitting them to gain credits which allow them to progress in their teaching career.
We are presently undertaking training programmes in Living Values at the Ministry of Education's Vocational Training Centres for Teachers and Educators working in the State education system.
The first official training programme took place at the Olh? Training Centre in the Algarve in the south of Portugal from 4th May to 23rd June 2001, with a total duration of 25 hours and with the participation of 16 trainees. The opinion of the trainees was that 25 hours was not enough and that they would like to do the training again. This would enable them to develop the themes further and apply them straight away with their pupils, since as the training was held at the end of the school year it could not immediately be put to use.
At the present time, there are three more Training Centres in the Algarve which are interested in Living Values training.
During the next academic year, we will continue to carry out Living Values training at Training Centres all over the country.
