In 2006, an LVE Association was officially established in Germany with the name: Living Values – Werte leben in Erziehung und Bildung Germany (LVD).

In 2007 as well as 2008, a three-day LVE Retreat for mothers and children took place in New Schönau. This year the main subject for the mothers was Active Listening and Conflict resolution. The children also solved conflicts in their group between boys and girls. They were impressed by the results and showed interest to learn the method and be trained as “peace-makers” amongst peers. This is planned for the end of July.

In Berlin in September and December 2007, two week-end seminars took place. The next seminar for educators is planned for 24 – 27 July in Berlin.

In 2006, LVE was invited for a congress about “caremindedness as way of living” at the university Witten/Herdecke, organised by the German organization for Transpersonal Psychology. The workshop was titled: Caremindedness in education: Living Values. LVE was afterwards represented in the publication about the results of the congress with an article: Ch. Mosch, B. Lörcher, G. Kappmeyer: Caremindedness in education: Living Values, in: Psychology of consciousness (Vol.6, LIT Verlag Münster 2007).

To get publishers interested in publishing the LVE books in German, the LVE team has received a number of good references. Translation has started again.

In Muellheim/Freiburg, a LVE course for parents is ongoing. This is organised by an institution called Parent-Child Initiative.

Living Values Education (LVE) started in Germany in 1997. Since then, a group of teachers and educators throughout Germany have organized the LVE activities together. Currently values groups meet in or near the following cities: Berlin, Bremen, Frankfurt, Freiburg, and Regensburg. These groups experiment with values activities and organize regional activities. In 2002 a national coordination bureau and a values-meeting place was opened in Bremen.

Since 1999, Living Values: An Educational Program (LVEP) has been introduced through information seminars in many cities throughout Germany. Educator seminars and trainings began in July 1999. Since then, once or twice a year 3- to 5-day LVEP Educator Trainings were offered either especially for educators or educators and parents together.

5-Day LVEP Training for Educators

During the spring holidays, a five-day LVEP Educator Training with Diana Hsu and the LVE team in Germany took place near Frankfurt. This year the practical work was enriched by creative groups (painting, dancing and a theatre group). Every group chose one value as a guideline for their interactions and as a subject for their creative expression. In this process the participants experienced values in action and created impressive results, which joyfully were presented at the end of the seminar, for example, dancing pictures. In the feedback session, a vision of a values school emerged, in which these experiences could be transmitted and made available to children.

During the biggest national fair of non-school educational institutions/projects and initiatives for children and youth LVE was represented with a well equipped and attractive stand. People were attracted by a colourful values wheel with the twelve values. The visitors enjoyed turning the wheel to get their value and the appropriate reflection card. Mainly children queued up. Surprisingly, most of them got the value responsibility! All day long, little presentations on Active listening, Conflict resolution and Developing positive behaviour were offered. This was well received by the visitors. The posters prepared for these topics were of great interest. Some visitors took photos or sat down to copy them. After every presentation the LVE video was displayed and much appreciated. Educators especially showed interest in the materials. Forty translated LVEP values units for young adults were distributed. Many took the visiting cards, flyers and brochures and signed the address list for receiving information.

Kieler Woche

During the famous sailing races in Kiel every year a huge family entertainment programme is organised. LVE was also present with the values wheel and some printed information. Values clowns distributed the values cards which young and old enjoyed very much.

LVE Coordination Bureau and Meeting Place in Bremen

The bureau is open every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and is the meeting place for the values group in Bremen every month, for exchange, values activities and planning. In addition, information evenings for the public and additional sessions for interested educators take place there. The address:

LVE in Bremen is represented by a municipal round-table of groups, institutions and projects whose members are interested in and work toward supporting families in their part of the city. No Chance for Hatred Youth Prize 2004

Pupils in a secondary school in Bremen, ages 16 and 17, participated at an annual youth project No chance for hatred. Their contributions were based on the values respect and tolerance. One group re-wrote a story for children called The little I am I and acted their story out with a primary school class. With photographs and their story they designed a book for children called I am I all people are equal and received a prize from one of the sponsors (Protestant and Catholic Churches). Before the project the whole class was engaged in a longer unit about values. As a result, the pupils themselves prepared in pairs lessons for their classmates with one chosen value per lesson. In preparation they did the LVEP lessons for young adults and also used their own materials and ideas. The lessons were well planned, with games, tests, music, exercises, questionnaires, role playing, painting and questions or statements for reflections and discussions, and they were positively responded to by their classmates during the lessons and in feed back. Two examples: The group Happiness prepared for the lesson a game to make everyone laugh and reflect on the difference between outer and inner happiness, and donated little presents to make their classmates happy. The group Love created the week before Christmas a loving atmosphere in the classroom with candles, music and cookies.

Impact

As feedback after an activity on active listening which was discussed and practised before their own lessons started, one pupil wrote:

In the beginning, I didn't like the idea of active listening. It made no sense for me not to give advice when my friends would tell me their problems. But then I decided to give it a try and I must say that this new way of listening truly functions: My sister came to me with a problem and I listened to her actively and attentively. She opened up and finally told me things, she otherwise would never have told me. She found her own solution for her problem and understood what had gone wrong and what she had to change. It first needs some effort to step back, but it is worthwhile to do it.

Two 16-year-old boys with very naughty and disrespectful behaviour, who liked playing cards and disturbing the class during the lessons, opened up more and more throughout the LVEP activities during the year and became cooperative, friendly, calm and respectful to the teacher and the classmates.(From a teacher in a vocational school.)

The children ask for the star of peace and like to dance like stars in the sky. So I started to use another value for the star, the happy star! (From a trainer of children's dance.)

1997 fing das LVE Programm: Werte leben in Erziehung und Bildung in Deutschland an. Seitdem traf sich eine Gruppe von PagogInnen aus ganz Deutschland und organisierte gemeinsam die LVE-Aktiviten. Gegenwtig existieren in oder in der Ne folgender Stte Wertegruppen: Berlin, Bremen, Kassel, Freiburg, Frankfurt, Regensburg. Diese Gruppen experimentieren mit den Werte-Aktiviten und organisieren ggfs. regionale Veranstaltungen. 2002 wurde in Bremen ein nationales Koordinationsbo und Werte-Treff erfnet.

Seit 1999 wurde LVE in verschiedensten Stten Deutschlands in Einfrungs- und Informationsveranstaltungen vorgestellt und fand jrlich ein mehrtiges Ausbildungsseminar f PagogInnen statt.

LVE-Aktiviten des letzten Jahres:

Fftige LVE-Fortbildung f Pagogen

In den Osterferien fand in der Ne von Frankfurt ein fftiges LVE Fortbildungsseminar mit Diana Hsu und dem LVE Team statt. Neu war in diesem Jahr die praktische Arbeit in Kreativ- statt in altersspezifischen Gruppen. Es entstand eine Mal-, eine Tanz-/ Bewegungs- und eine Theatergruppe. Die Teilnehmer einigten sich jeweils auf einen Wert als Basis ihrer Interaktionen. Das frte zu sehr intensiven Erfahrungen im Umgang mit Werten und zu eindrucksvollen Prentationen am Abschlussabend (z.B .getanzte Bilder).

In der Abschlussrunde entstand die Vision einer Werte-Schule, der Wunsch diese Erfahrungen weiterzuvermitteln und auch Kindern und Jugendlichen zugglich zu machen.

Jugendhilfetag Leben lernen in Osnabrk vom 2.- 4. Juni

Bei der grten Fachmesse aurschulischer Bildungstrer im Bundesgebiet war Living Values mit einem greren, gut ausgerteten Stand vertreten. Er wurde von 6 LVE-Aktiven aus dem norddeutschen Raum betreut. Blickfang und Anziehungspunkt bildete das bunte Werterad mit den 12 LVE Werten. Die Messebesucher hatten offensichtlich viel Freude am Drehen ihres Werts und dem entsprechenden Werte-Ktchen zum Mitnehmen. Vor allem Kinder standen manchmal Schlange und drehten bezeichnenderweise am allerhfigsten den Wert Verantwortung!
Den ganzen Tag er wurden kleine Prentationen zu den Themen: Aktives Zuhen, Konfliktlung und Positives Verhalten entwickeln angeboten, die teilweise gut besucht waren. Gros Interesse fanden auch die Plakate zu diesen Themen, die einige Messebesucher abfotografierten oder die Texte abschrieben. Nach jeder Prentation wurde das LVE-Video gezeigt.

Besonders Pagogen interessierten sich f die Arbeitsmaterialien An die 40 Exemplare von jeder ersetzten Einheit (aus den Materialien f junge Erwachsene) wurden ausgegeben.

Viele haben Visitenkarten , Flyer und die Brosche mitgenommen und 30 haben sich in die

Interessentenliste eingetragen.

Kieler Woche 26./27. Juni

Im Zusammenhang mit den Segelwettbewerben auf der Kieler Fde findet jedes Jahr ein groangelegtes Familien-Unterhaltungsprogramm statt. Auch hier kam das Werterad an einem improvisierten Stand zum Einsatz Werte-Clowns verteilten die Werte-Ktchen und erfreuten damit Ground Klein.

Das Koordinationsbo ist whentlich mittwochs von 16.00-18.00 Uhr gefnet und ist monatlicher Treffpunkt der Wertegruppe - Bremen f Austausch, Werteaktiviten und Planungsgesprhe. Aurdem finden dort Info-Abende und Einzelgesprhe mit Interessierten statt.

Dem Hass keine Chance Jugendpreis 2004

ScherInnen eines Pagogikkurses in Bremen haben sich mit Beitren zum Wert Toleranz und Respekt am Jugendpreis 2004: Dem Hass keine Chance beteiligt. Eine Gruppe hat z.B. das Kinderbuch Das kleine Ich bin Ich v. Mira Lobe umgeschrieben und mit einer Grundschulklasse gespielt. Aus Text und Fotos gestalteten sie das Kinderbuch Ich bin ich Alle Menschen sind gleich und wurden mit dem Preis des Katholischen und Ev. Bildungswerks ausgezeichnet.

Dieser Projektarbeit ging eine lgere Beschtigung mit dem Thema Werte im ganzen Kurs voraus. Als Abschluss dieser Einheit gestalteten die ScherInnen in Partnerarbeit eine Kursstunde zu einem Wert ihrer Wahl und nutzten z.T. f die Vorbereitung die LVE-Materialien f junge Erwachsene. Die Stunden selbst waren sehr einfallsreich und vielseitig (Spiele, Musik, ungen, Tests, Texte, Fragestellungen f Kleingruppenarbeiten, Rollenspiele als Diskussionsanregung...) und wurden von den MitscherInnen positiv aufgenommen. V.a. freuten sie sich er die Geschenktchen (mit Glkskeks, Glksstein und einem Glks-Vorsatz fs neue Jahr), die die Glks-Gruppe f jeden vorbereitet hatte oder den liebevoll gestalteten Raum mit Kerzen und Keksen zum Wert Liebe.

Wirkung:

Als feed back zum Aktiven Zuhen, das im Zusammenhang mit dem Thema Respekt besprochen worden war, schrieb eine Scherin:

Zu Anfang konnte ich mit dem Aktiven Zuhen gar nichts anfangen. F mich ergab es keinen Sinn, meinen Freunden keine Ratschle zu erteilen, wenn sie mit ihren Problemen zu mir kommen. Ich habe mich dann aber doch einmal auf diese etwas andere Art des Zuhens eingelassen und festgestellt, dass es wirklich funktioniert: Meine Schwester kam mit einem Problem zu mir und ich habe ihr aufmerksam zugeht. Schlieich hte sie gar nicht mehr auf zu reden, sondern erzlte mir Sachen, die sie mir sonst nie erzlt hte. Sie kam von sich aus auf eine eigene Lung f ihr Problem und verstand, was eigentlich falsch gegangen war und was sie dern muss. Das Aktive Zuhen braucht zwar etwas erwindung, weil man seine eigene Meinung zurk stecken muss, aber es lohnt sich!

Zwei schwierige Scher (16 J.), die oft den Unterricht stten und Karten spielten, fneten sich durch die LVE-Aktiviten immer mehr, wurden den Mitschern und Lehrern gegener kooperativer, freundlicher und respektvoller. (Berufsschullehrerin, Korbach)

Die Kinder fragen immer wieder nach dem Stern des Friedens und lieben es, wie Sterne am Himmel zu tanzen. So begann ich den Sternen auch andere Werte zuzuordnen (z.B. glklicher Stern).(Trainerin einer Kindertanzgruppe)
